Greg S, I actually work out west in the oil fields, I have for the past 5 years. I travel back and forth from Alberta to Ontario on my days off. I have been talking to other landlords out here as well and am very interested in investing out west. A lot of places out here rent out by the room, there is lots of money to be made out here.

It reminds me of when I went to college and rented a room in a house. When I first came out here I actually rented a room for 6 months in Edmonton and there was 4 other people in the house. I always thought to myself, wow, this is a great idea. As years have passed now and I have grown up and matured and am looking towards my future, I have realized that this is definitely the way to go to start making some cash flow.

Ming Lim, I am definitely into reading material, I just recently got into podcasts which I enjoy. Lots of information packed into them.

KWC would be much easier for me to travel to. But I'm not shy to travel wherever I need to to get the best information.

Like I said, I am completely brand new to all of this, I just flipped the switch and decided real estate investing is something I am seriously interested in. The more and more I read about it, the more and more intrigued I get.

Thank you.

I plan on investing here in Canada to start. But who knows what the future holds. Yes I noticed that some of the book doesn't apply to me here in Canada. But like you said, the fundamental concepts are the same! It is a great book so far,  full of great information!

I would like to start small with some buy and hold real estate, so I went ahead and ordered the two books you recommended, so I'll be patiently waiting for them to come in the mail! Always looking to learn new things!

Thank you very much for your taking time to reply to my post and advice on reading material. It is much appreciated

hi everyone, I just started thinking about getting into real estate. I'm currently reading Brandon's book "the book on rental property investing" and it is really shedding some light on what's all involved in real estate investing. As of right now, I am just trying to gain knowledge from books and what not before I dive into anything. I want to go in with a good head on my shoulders and a plan! Any advice or comments on what I should read next or be doing would be much appreciated! Also any tips on stuff to check out on this site would be good too!

Thanks!
