@Will Fraser

Will can you elaborate? I’ve been to the island many times and hope to buy land there someday. Sounds like you’re active there?

 Thanks Shiloh! I'll look him up.  Much appreciated

Thanks for the response Bruce.  When we've visited, we really liked the Nicoya peninsula, and the area surrounding it.  The plan would be to find a broker we trust, and then travel there to scout properties

Funny, I just posted a thread very similar to the OP. Eager to hear if anyone has any more up to date information about Costa Rican REI in general and/or VRBO specifically

My brother and I are interested in potentially purchasing a small parcel of land and/or a property with a residence already in place where we could pursue an Air BnB/Vrbo strategy in Costa Rica. Several members of our family have the ability to work from anywhere and investing in a property where we could build or renovate an existing house, use it as we're able, and rent it out when we're not there is very attractive.  Does anybody have and good recommendations for RE brokers/agents in CR?

@James Hamling

The second paragraph of your last post is interesting and something I think about quite a bit. I generally agree with your assessment, but do you think that with all of the capital floating around combined with all the hype surrounding real estate there's a possibility of continued price appreciation/cap rate compression from investors willing to pay more for the same NOI?

@Brandon Sturgill

That level of appreciation is fantastic. If buying those same properties today, what are some of the other typical return metrics that you're seeing, such as CoC?

We didn't do any research, but rather noticed the market appreciating quickly and thought it might make sense to keep our old house as a rental which is how a lot of folks get into the game!
