@Dylan Huynh Always inspiring to hear about hungry people craving knowledge and starting to take action. I'm originally from Albany but live out west nowadays however I do invest in upstate NY. There is very little appreciation in most areas but prices are good (compared to the west coast) and cash flow is decent. I know there is a newish real estate meet up going on in Albany hosted by @Emily Lipton. I think getting in touch with her might be a good start in connecting with some local investors. I'm excited for you to get moving on this journey. Best of luck in your future endeavors!

I'm not real familiar with the Syracuse market but I know Albany pretty well and there are some decent deals floating around. My personal opinion would be to stay strictly in the city of Albany and not stray out to Troy or Schenectady (just my preference) and definitely check the crime ratings for the area of the property because there are certainly some places you do not want to go. I recently connected with @Chynna Walters who is a realtor in that area. She might be able to help guide you down the right path. Best of luck in your endeavors!

Congratulations @James Gates! Thank you for your in depth story. I always love hearing about people's hard work and determination. I too got my first investment property from a HELOC and I think that's a great way to get started. Awesome story and congrats again. Best of luck to you in achieving your financial freedom!

@Mindy Jensen I listened to the audio version of this last year. It had a lot of great techniques and information. I felt like it expanded upon other negotiation styles I've read in other books and really specified it to real estate well. I found it very insightful. Is this a new version of the previous book?

@Ryan Kawash that's awesome that the returns come back like that in all types of scenarios. I definitely understand where you're coming from with the curiosity as to why it's been on the market for so long. I hope you can get it to all make sense for you that kind of ROI would be amazing. Best of luck!

@Ryan Kawash Those ROI percentages are really high and that would have me questioning the numbers a bit if it were me but if they truly make sense after going over them again and the building is sound while being in the path of progress you may have a gem on your hands. You are obviously doing your due diligence and I'm sure it will make sense one way or the other soon. Best of luck to you!

@ChynnaWalters and @Brianrosher I currently have a four plex in the Lake George area and I am looking to invest in Albany as well. I have not yet seeked out an agent in the Capital District area and would definitely like to talk to you and see if we might be good teammates in tackling an Albany investment.

@Dylan Mejo I'm just curious what Glens Falls National's heloc terms were like...I haven't used them yet but I've heard good things about them.
