Hello Stacy!  I would probably start off with referrals from other builders/remodelers.  I would not trust what I saw on the internet.  I was in the construction business for about 30 years so I have a little experience.  You can also get referrals from homeowners who have recently remodeled.  I would get several bids and judge them by their input.  Good luck!

It really depends on where you are and your goals.  Since you are in Pittsburgh, I would think that you have several choices if you look hard enough.  The purpose of the living quarters or commercial remodel may effect your warranty.  Most second-hand material is not warranted and that could effect your decisions.  If that does not matter most things will supply your needs just perfectly.  It also depends if you are trying to match something that is old.  I was in the construction business for about 30 years so I have my share of experience and input in that.  I use to own a flooring business and matching old stuff came in handy.  Since I was around Dallas Texas I had many choices.  The only problem I had was the location so include that in your time estimate. Good luck!

Hello! I would not buy a SFH unless it was in a high demand area and it was a Fix and Flip.

Hello!  I believe in what Tyler said.  It really depends on what is in demand the most in that area.  Focus in those areas with the most closings and if they match what you want to do.

No one that works for a profitable company does not give any free time.  They may not charge a fee but hopes they will come back and write them a check.  They get paid when they are at work.  Very few outside of a charitable job works for nothing.
