I'm a real estate agent in a more casual part of the industry (rentals). Our dress code is business casual, but during the summer we can be a little lax. Khaki shorts (not cargo), polos, and boat shoes. I think it's a pretty nice look and is comfortable.

We are responsible for our clients housing, it's a pretty serious task. I think it helps ease our clients minds when we look the part of a professional. I know I wouldn't want to rent an apartment from a guy in sweat pants!

Hey @Mike Hurney thats exactly what I was thinking! I just got accepted to BU the other day, and my office has a ton of listings for BU students. It feels like a match made in heaven. I am looking to my man Donald Trump for inspiration on this one, he said he did a ton of deals through college, and managed to earn good grades as well.

@Albert Hall Small successes build big successes!

@Lane Kawaoka Would if I could! I might need a few more years for the beard.

Hey everyone, thanks for the great responses! I am pretty excited to be apart of this community!

@Dawn Brenengen Apartment rentals are HUGE out here, the top agents in my office are making 200k+ exclusively on rentals. I think it is such a small piece of the pie, but it is the easiest to get into. I closed 3 apartments in my first month for roughly 2400. I'm pretty split between economics and business administration ( generic business degree). Any input would be much appreciated!

I'm pretty new to the game, but I've been surprised at the trend in rental prices in the area. I've heard that every year for a few years now that the prices have been raised 50 to 100 bucks per month. I'm concerned we are approaching a crash, but these apartments are getting rented! There were very few units left over from last year, and they were all way over priced. I think the massive student population (who almost all look for apartment rentals) plus the trends of more people renting will continue to drive the market.

I am a 19 year old (20 in a couple weeks!) who dropped out of engineering school to pursue my passion in real estate. I am currently an agent that exclusively does apartment rentals. I plan on going back to school in fall of 2016 in Boston.

Real Estate Goals

I am hoping to learn more about all aspects of real estate and to broaden my scope past apartment rentals. Long term, I would like to run a brokerage, numerous investment properties, and be engaged in all different types of real estate.

Short term, I hope to make enough to pay my way through school and own a few investment properties by the time I graduate in 2019.
