Post: Transitioning from Real Estate Agent to RE Agent and investor

Have you talked with your broker? If not, I would suggest you do that. They may already have ideas on how they need/want to handle this, and then you need to decide if that will work for you or not. I'm not advocating jumping brokers, but there are a lot out there that may have better options for you as you look at making this transition.

Good luck!

Hello - my wife and I are looking to expand into BRRR and are interested in meeting some of the wholesalers in the Twin Cities area to see if we could work together. If you have experience in the Twin Cities, I would love to chat with you. We are just starting, but I am hoping we can help each other grow our businesses.

Sounds like a good job for your handyperson. Have them put down ice melt for those dustings or ice.

I'm currently the handyman :) This helps me get an idea of what thresholds I should look to address. Thank you for your input.

I will always advise my guest during winter months they should drive a 4 wheel drive car as it may snow.  I will have the road plow if snow is significant and people are unable to get out or in .

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. I'll add something to that effect in our listing and house manual.

I'll gladly trade you locations for a while so you can get a taste of it ;)

Hi Michael (I think we met at BPCon?),

Trace amount here in Red Wing as well. When we have guests we have our snow removal service go over and plow/shovel for 3/4 inch or more. He spreads salt, but we also keep salt in the garage of the STR with a scoop so guests can spread it. Hope that helps!

Hi Meridith. Thanks for the input. I'll have to talk with the service to see if we can adjust the snow depth and I'll for sure put some ice melt out.

Hello folks,

For those of us with an STR in Minnesota who woke up to snow this morning (luckily just a trace amount) it got me thinking - What do you do about taking care of the snow for your properties? We have a company that will plow when it is over 2 inches, but what do you do when there is less than that or maybe some ice? Do you get it taken care of or let it ride?

This is our first winter so I'm curious about what you all think.

Thanks!

Lots of good advice here. When I was looking, what always made or broke the deal was the HOA - some of the units in MPLS have some hefty HOA fees. If a condo is a must and the math lines up, I think you could make a good case for buying over renting. If you could look at a duplex as others have stated, you may find yourself in a better cash-flow situation (i.e. house hack). Is MPLS a must-have? You may find better success in first ring suburbs. Good luck to you!

Hello everyone,

I am a new member, brand new to the idea of real estate investing, and super excited to get started. I am a part-time real estate in the Minneapolis, MN area. My wife and are getting excited to attend the upcoming Rookie Conference in Colorado next month as we start our journey into real estate investing.

Super busy getting our house ready to sell, but will definitely be getting more involved in the near future. If you live in the Minneapolis area and are looking to meet others from BP, let me know.

Take care and I hope all your deals are going well!
