I'm new too... Been to about 6 meetings so far in Orange County, CA (OCREIA). Can't tell you enough what an amazing experience it has been!  Speakers have been incredible at every event--and I've made several great contacts.  Definitely getting there early is key.  Pre and post time is best for networking.  Enjoy!
