If you have nothing but time then give it a try but remember you will need to pull all the permits and in Massachusetts you very well might need to hold a GC license. Then you have to schedule all of the inspections. By the time you've done all of this, why not let the professionals do their job. They have all of the knowledge, permits and experience and will get it done way quicker, Just my opinion.

I don't know of any real estate license that carries over into another state. As far as I know you must be licensed in each particular state you wish to do business in. Now with that said, if you hold a license in a particular state getting licensed in another state might be easier if they have a reciprocal agreement. That would generally mean all you have to do is to take and pass the state portion of the test you'd like to be licensed in. I am currently licensed in Massachusetts if I wanted to go to NH, all I have to do it to take the state portion which I'm told is much easier than the Mass state.

There are a couple of options for completing the 20 hours of classroom study.  The AllMass website will detail them for you. I know that you can do it over a weekend if you'd like to sit in a room for ten hours on Saturday and Sunday. I did mine two hours on Monday and Wednesday for five weeks. I personally think that cramming it all in during one weekend is too much or was too much for me, I would have never retained anything. I think there is also another option but I can't remember it.

@Darina Pogodina  if you are looking for a school in MetroWest go online or call AllMass Academy of Real Estate in Framingham. Ask for Jerry Bluhm, make sure to tell him I told you to call.

Hey Kendra,

The test is heavily focused on the Mass Law portion but DO NOT skip the other information and concentrate only on the law part. Make no mistake about it, the test is not easy, don't let anyone fool you. You have to study and you'll be fine, don't worry too much about all the math that you did in RE class, not much is on the test and what is on the test is very basic stuff. Good Luck.

@Ross Trampler  as a twenty year Marine Veteran( Gunnery Sgt.) welcome to the area. Please send me a colleague request or a PM I can look around for you. In my opinion, stay off Craig's List when looking for RE deals. You will get scammed.
