They just did the work without getting a permit or submitting plans but I dont think anything was done incorrectly, so the city wants to have some kind of consequences.

Yes, I've been to court - it was a little complicated since the previous owner and I worked together to get most of the violations dismissed and this one transferred to me, I need to go back to court in a few months to show them that I am making progress.

Yes, then I agreed to deal with it in exchange for a pretty decent closing credit

Hi all - I bought a building at a good deal but as part of the purchase the City of Chicago is requiring me to submit plans and pay a permit fee for a basement in the commercial space that was remodeled to add a bathroom, but then cited for a city violation. The work was completed a year ago and done correctly, they just did it illegally.

Of course I want to do all this as cheaply as possible, wondering if anyone has referrals or ideas? Thank you
