Post: Question on LLC with partners out of state

Thanks, everyone. I think I understand. This new LLC will be formed in Colorado, where my partner(s) reside and properties will be acquired. My contributions to the LLC is funding only. So, since my partner(s) will be managing everything (for the LLC) locally in Colorado, it's best to structure the LLC in a way where I'm not listed as a managing member, is that correct?

Hello,

I recently formed an LLC (in CA) for my rental property investments (just closed on my 1st one). However, I am also going to be partnering with a friend in Colorado. We are planning to form a separate LLC for our partnership deals, but my question is since I since I live in CA, will I still be responsible for the $800 franchise tax fee? How does these out of state partnerships/LLC's get handled at tax time?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Mark

Hi @Corey Melkonian the primary location is Townsend. Potential secondary locations would be Pepperell or Ashby.

Thanks for the feedback. Good suggestion for Craigslist ad. Also, yes, this is a very family oriented town/neighborhood with above average schools. Housing ranges between $150 - $300K.

Hi, first time here and just getting started in rental property investing. I'm looking to target my old hometown in Massachusetts (I live in CA now) as my rental investment location. However, the renters percentage is 18% (vs. 82% own). Should I consider this a deterrent for this location? Additionally, I don't see many SFR properties available for rent today. Again, should this be considered a good or bad thing? Higher demand?

Appreciate your thoughts.
