Post: Chattanooga named as G20 smart city Alliance City

Chattanooga continues to transform as a tech city in the Southeast.  In mid-November, it was selected as a G20 smart city alliance city. To quote the press release this will help "kickstart adoption of the roadmap, the alliance has recruited a group of 36 “pioneer cities” that will collaborate with global experts to enhance their city policies, in areas ranging from privacy protection and cyber security to better services for disabled people and better broadband coverage."

Chattanooga has evolved tremendously over the past 2 decades since becoming the first gig city in America.


How do you think this will benefit the job market and real estate market for Chattanooga and the surrounding areas?

Agreed with Tyler.  I have lived in Tennessee the late 90s and the markets across the state are drastically different.  Tennessee is seeing a boom because of it's business friendly climate and no state income tax, but Knoxville, Chattanooga, Nashville, Memphis, Jackson and Johnson City are all different markets.  Happy to connect and discuss with anyone looking to invest into MF in the Tennessee market.

@Marichelle Lao that seems a bit high, but windows can be very, very expensive and floors aren't the cheapest to buy and install either.  I would be interested in knowing who the PM / contractors are. Happy to make recommendations to help you  shop around.  Could you also tell us the zip code or area of Chattanooga the properties are in?

I have a unit I finished in East Ridge about a week ago.  Although it's still not rented, it's been shown a handful of times.  People are still actively looking for a new place to live.

Buy and hold long term multi family like you started with duplexes.  That's my strategy.
