Ciera Calhoun, I would look up your local REIA such as http://www.sareia.com/
I went to my first REIA meeting in my area last week and it was fantastic. Its a great way to meet local investors and also get lots of great information for next to no cost.

Grant P. yeah normally I wouldn't even think twice about this, but the property is under $30k and I am also going to try and get seller financing on it. I thought it may be easier to work directly with the listing agent. I could be completely wrong in my thinking though.

Hi guys, I have a property I want to look at. My question is can I contact the listing agent so I can look at the property and then get my own agent if I decide to pursue.

Thanks,

Hi Bill, the meeting went really well. The guest speaker was the president of National REIA. I was able to meet the president and VP of the Triad REIA and I met some other folks as well. I can see the meetings will be great for learning and networking. I learned some great things last night just in the first meeting.

I plan to start attending the weekly lunch meetings for the Triad and Next month I am going to attend the monthly meeting for the Metrolina REIA and check it out as well.

Thanks again Bill. This is just what I was looking for.

@lynn M, yeah Raleigh is a little far from me, about 2.5 hours.

@kama we will probably be moving within 5 years to either Winston or the Charolotte area. You make a lot of good points. I would obviously like to find one close to home if I could find a good investment. The opportunities around here are pretty slim. I have however taken your advice and started to up my search locally. I do know this market better just from searching for my current home a couple of years ago. So maybe I should get my feet wet here, learn as much as I can, and then when I move work in my new area.

Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for the insight Bill. I am really wondering about the triad and how the market is doing and projected to do. I really like Wonston but I don't get a great feeling about the market. Hopefully my first impressions are wrong.
