From an investor point of view and from a local's point of view (I love my city!), I would look in the Mid-City area for a good place to live. Property values are increasing, neighborhoods are great. If they buy here - even if only for 5 years - I would get a good multi-family, probably a double. They could talk to a few of their peers and find out where they are living. As doctors, they are already in a good network of folks that will be a good future buyer or lessor (if they buy the double). Plus, you almost can't go wrong with a good double in New Orleans.

I'm looking at getting an accountant finally. I've spoken to a few accountants in other states and they keep mentioning that they would need to get familiar with Louisiana Real Estate law. Understandable.

However, I'm wondering if I would be better off just working with a local Accountant. What are your thoughts on this?

And does anyone have any recommendations for Louisiana Accountants that have a focus on Real Estate investing?

My name is Mark and I live in the Greater New Orleans area (the Westbank actually). 

Although I'm new to this business, I've been accidentally doing it since 2004 when I rented out my house and moved into a condo (I would later move again and rent that condo out!). I have made my first intentional purchase as an Investor - a multi-family property in Old Gretna, Louisiana. I'm pretty excited about it and about to get started on renovations this weekend.

I'm still finding my way around the site - but what a great site it is! I just used one of the calculators and put my new purchase in to check it out. A great wealth of info! I'm nearly tempted to go Pro just for unlimited use of that calc! 

It's great to be here - I look forward to learning much more about this business.
