Post: Tiny home community in lake county Illinois

HI Jennifer,

I'm interested in building a community of tiny homes and how to make that work with the least of money down.  I was thinking I'd buy an acre of land that has city electricy and water available, and pay that off so that it can be used for collateral one house at a time.  Please send a link to your book and let me know how much of it might apply to MO.

I'm very interested in building tiny home communities.  You wrote this 3 years ago and I'm wondering what you've been able to accomplish.  Do you look for an acre with city water and electricity and build on that or do you put in your own?  What kind of zoning do tiny homes need?  Have you ever had to convince a city council to change the zoning regulations?  Do you use a modular kit or no?    I'm so interested!

Hey there, my name is Marjorie Broce.  My husband and I have 5 children and our last born is about to graduate from high school here in Uganda where we serve at an international school.  We are about to shift back to the states in June after living overseas for 7 years, and we are headed to Kansas City since two of our boys live there.

We are not only going to buy our own home with a VA or FHA loan, but I want to start acting on one of my great passions: real estate investing. I'm really not sure of my niche but I can see my husband helping fix up houses once he gets on board. So either fix and flip or perhaps buy and hold. I'm not so sure that I want to deal with tenants unless they are renting something worth about $1400 a month.

I am definitely afraid to get started.  I definitely need a mentor/encourager.  And I will definitely need help finding creative financing for the full amount of the house and rehab.  I will be at the meetings in Kansas city starting in August.  I look forward to connecting with other Kansas  City people and investors all over!

Thank you Larry, I wonder how I missed this in all the previous reading I've done on real estate investing.  Maybe it's just because if the word was used, I THOUGHT I knew what it meant.  I appreciate your time in answering my question!

Mackaylee, will you explain to me "turnkey" real estate?  I always assumed I knew what it meant, but now that I've been reading on the forum, I'm not so sure I do.
