I'm in Deerfield and love to connect with people around me. I've been to an REI meeting in Northbrook once, but it's meeting time conflicted with other things I have going on. Of course it's not Lake County, but if you're interested it's called Northbrook Wealth Club. They're meeting spot is pretty accessible from 294.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a reliable remodeling contractor in the northern Chicago suburbs area? I live in Deerfield but am looking to do some fix and flips to the south and south west of me: Northbrook, Glenview, Morton Grove, Niles, Mt Prospect, Elk Grove Village, Arlington Heights, Des Plaines. I want to build a relationship with a contractor before I get into a deal. Any help you could offer would be appreciated.

Just curious: what kind of deal are you structuring with this individual? Is it a rent to own situation or just a renter?

@Account Closed That's impressive. With that many bids per week, I'm sure you stay busy. I'll have to check out your website. It sounds like you have a nice business model.

Have you determined what type of property you want to invest in?

I am riding the fence between SFH and a small multi-family. I feel the most comfortable with the idea of SFH, but see some advantages to the multi-family. I suppose one downside to doing so much learning before really getting started is that you are now aware of a large number of possibilities. Yours is a great question though, as it may be helpful for me to get more focus in this area. What are your suggestions?

Hi Marc. I am in the South Suburbs, but looking to do buy and holds on the West Side of Chicago (where I grew up) as well as in the West Suburbs. I currently have one SFR with my husband in the S. Suburbs. After that experience, he has taken a step back from investing, so I understand dealing with spousal apprehension. Good luck with your investing, and I look forward to hearing great things in the future.

Thank you Shannon! Good luck to you as well!

@Account Closed it's going well. Thanks for asking. I've listened to about 80 podcasts so far, as well as read about 5 or so books mentioned on the podcasts. It's all very good stuff, but I am eager to get started doing something. I'm trying to take that part slowly and wisely, especially in light of my wife's apprehension. As they say, slow and steady wins the race. Are you in the Chicago burbs any?

Awesome story and deal. Just curious where the house is located? The lower acquisition cost with relatively higher rent seems ideal.
