Post: Stuck Water Shutoff Valve?

Need advice on super stuck water shutoff valves in a much older house.  Multiple stuck valves throughout the house and at the main shutoff within the house. We were able to shut it off from outside the house near the street for some quick repairs, but this isn't the best situation.

Didn't want to force it for fear of breaking the valves. Is there something/a substance we can apply to help loosen the valves?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello, Carrie. I just sent you a PM.

Well, bummer. I was thinking this wouldn't be too difficult, but I'm not that familiar with granite and haven't really worked with it.

I'm looking to update an outdated kitchen. The large, 1-tub sink is what people are looking for in my area.

Thanks!

I need to replace a 2-tub sink with a large 1-tub sink, so I'll be going from 2 drains to 1. I will also need to cut through a granite counter to add the larger sink.

Who would I contract this out to?  Do I need to find a plumber and a granite person? Or is there a type of contractor who can do the whole project?

Given how busy the contractors are in our area, I'd like to not waste anyone's time, so I'm starting here.  :-)

Thank you!

This is my first project - and I'm now questioning my primer and painting skills.

This is taking way longer than expected and I'm not loving how it looks. I'm seriously concerned that my paint job will look as bad as my primer job. I used a brush to get into the groves between panels and around tight areas and trim - there are a lot of nooks & crannies. I then used a roller to get the larger parts. It's looking pretty uneven and splotchy.

Do I need to do another coat of primer?

Should I try to use a sprayer for the paint instead of brush and roller? It's a small room with very limited ventilation.

Once I get the primer finished, I need to paint the ceiling. Pretty much the same color, so I wasn't going to primer before painting it.

But I do plan to primer the bricks on my gas fireplace... can I use the same primer?

Or should I just throw in my paint brushes and rollers and hire this out to professionals?  :-)

Here are some pics... I still need to do the bottom edges.
