Erik, thanks!

Thierry,

Tend to agree... Amsterdam seems to be a fairly efficient market (to me as an outsider), no bargains, you get what you pay for. Reasonable ROI possible but no great deals. On top of it, my target market would be starters/couples, and in the good neighborhoods they can only afford an apartment below the regulated threshold.... (1500 eur or so, which gets you a 65m2 apartment I'm the hot rental market).

Den Haag seems indeed more attractive than in 2009 when we bought our place there. So worth considering. Good expat market as well!

Maastricht in the long term will have declining population, therefore less attractive. Students and elderly people will grow though.

Hi Folks,

Just signed up to the forum, and thought I'd do a quick intro.

My name is Maarten, and I am from The Netherlands. I am just getting into RE investing, with the objective to create a passive income stream, spreading of my portfolio, and generally to counter inflationary effects.

I am currently living abroad (Asia) for a couple of years, for work. I am originally from the city of Maastricht, but lived in The Hague for a while and owned (yes, sold) a place there. Amsterdam seems to be the hottest market in the country though, so I am currently still between those three cities for my investment activities. If any Dutch members have any thoughts on this, I am very curious...

My strategy will be buy-and-hold, as I am not in the country at the moment, and will not be able to manage a more labour-intensive strategy (maybe later, the place we had in The Hague we renovated extensively, so some experience (good and bad) with that).

Cheers everyone, looking forward to this journey!
