Hey Noah! That's exciting, good for you! I got involved in property at 18 by finding a friend/mentor who was a real estate developer. We talked all the time and he gave me great advice. Not sure how soon you plan on investing but for me I just kept educating myself and connecting with the people I wanted to become. Sooner or later you'll have opportunities coming your way! If you have no credit score you could look to get partners, this is something a mentor could help with. Also, check out some real estate networking events in Tampa, there's usually a wealth of knowledge there...I might even see you at one!

Hey Nake, just came across your post. I know it's from a few years ago but just wondering if you're still looking in the area?

Michael, Lakeland is a good area! To be clear, you're looking to buy a place and then rent it out? Any idea of how many rooms, baths etc you'd like? Feel free to send me a message if you'd like.

Hey Gin, my background is in maintenance management & residential construction. Unless you're in love with the trees, get rid of them. Having trees close to a structure brings multiple issues. Falling debris, issues with roots, animals/bugs using the tree to access the house and moisture around the house. Did you end up purchasing the the property? If you're still in the market, let me know. I'll help you find a property with no trees that could harm your investment. Best - Luke

Welcome to BP Christopher! Do you invest in other areas or are you just focused on the Lakeland area at the moment?

Hey Collin, I work with investors in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area and am considering house hacking in the area myself. Have you read 'The House Hacking Strategy" by Craig Curelop? It's an excellent book and has lots of strategies that I believe could be utilized in many markets!

We just had a near miss with a hurricane so that is an issue. However, lots of people still invest in the area. My suggestion would be have a a look at some flood maps and perhaps adjust your investing to where you feel more comfortable. Right on the water in South Tampa could be prone to hurricane damage but if you go a little inland, say near USF you could be much better off.

Send me a message, I'd love to talk more and hear about what you plan to do investing wise. All the best - Luke
