Just read about the data leak involving several big banks and countless mortgage holders personal information. Certainly makes the argument for private money lending that much stronger.

Here's a link to the article:  https://techcrunch.com/2019/01/23/financial-files/...

What do you think about the article and how would you leverage the information in your deals?

As I read your post it's not entirely clear to me.  Do you have two opportunities you're considering?  Loan originator and family office asset manager?  You're right they are different and as the prior answer pointed out there are rules which you are likely aware of. As far as the tax implications in the State (or DC), that may be your biggest influence on this decision. Forgive, I have no knowledge about those tax jurisdictions.  It really boils down to what the cost benefit is for each option.  Good luck and congratulations on your new opportunity.

Yeah, the Oz show is funny and very reality TV. I also fast forwarded to the homes. It illustrates how people are blinded by their own sense of style and taste. The expert reviews are the most valuable thing in the show. Also, those guest baskets, silly to invest that much when the ROI isn't there. For a guest staying a month, sure. A couple nights? No way. That's a sure way to bankruptcy. It's charity at that point. What would be interesting though is to see how auxiliary businesses could be tied in for rev gen. I wouldn't want to walk through a swamp to take a yoga class on the beach, however I might pay for a guided tour of sights. If 100% of guests visit the grand canyon while staying at a place near there, a tour could be another source of revenue. This is hit and miss in other places. I just wonder what else is possible with the value adds (fee and free).

Looking at a project in the Philippines, has anyone participated in large scale development projects overseas and could share insights?

Considering a large MF development project in the Philippines.  Wondering if anyone has invested there or might have tips on investing and fundraising for overseas projects in general.

Daniel Hillyer, I've been an expat for years and plan to be one again. There are two ways I believe you will be successful, one, be a capital investor (passive) with others who, manage deals. Two, stay in the States long enough to build the infrastructure you need, then plan to visit on deals that require physical presence.

My partner and I manage deals for capital investors just like you. It's a great way to build wealth with regular cashflow and ROI.

Good luck and I'll keep an eye out for your blog.

Hum, this may be a new strategy for flips guys! Get a show to pay reno for STR then flip it good.

@Andrew wow if the owners are on BP how great would that be to hear the follow up? I wonder if the show pays a portion of remodel costs? If they did, the conversation becomes very different.

Right. Just curious if there were any pre foreclosure strategies.

Hey there @Rhonda Blue, wondering how everything is going with your SD IRA investment journey? Because of the need to be completely passive, I'm interested in finding capital partners (and financial managers) who would like to invest their SD IRA assets (or help their clients in the case of financial managers) into deals I manage. Any suggestions?
