Thank you so much Dave Foster and Lauren Speidel I just wish the attorney that drew up our paperwork would help without wanting us to pay more. It's quite frustrating when we clearly aren't sure how these things work! Thanks so much for all your guidance. We are contacting our CPA today.

Thank you Dave Foster and Lauren Speidel it sounds like we need to have a meeting asap. It is quite frustrating that the attorney wants to charge us so much. I know we are unsure of what to do, but are thinking we may have to pull our money, and that means the money we spent on the 1031 deal is wasted, along with more money if we decide to set up a meeting with him to discuss options. Unfortunately all of the correspondence and paperwork thus far with the attorney's office has been via email, too. Let us know if you have any other suggestions on moving forward. Thanks again!

@Russell Brazil Sorry for the confusion. I guess it wasn't technically a flip-- since we just sold for a profit. Although, when you sell real estate for a profit, I thought that meant you could use a 1031, but maybe I'm mistaken.  Do you have any suggestions about utilizing real estate agents and the etiquette around that?  Thanks!

Michael Beeman that's awesome! It's so hard to have a different mindset than mainstream society, but we can see it will be worth it and have to remind ourselves to stick with it!! Thanks again for the welcome everyone!

Hey everyone! My husband and I just did our first unplanned flip and are currently looking for property to reinvest our gains in(1031). I decided to share our story on fb(good idea or not, I'm not sure) to get the word out there. It drew in several contacts, and I know multiple real estate agents within my network, some closer friends, others acquaintances. However, we haven't decided if we want to work with one of these agents, or if we want to find an agent who is more involved in the investing side. A few of the agents have been in touch with me since I posted, as they are keeping their ears peeled to what we are looking for-- multi family units. Is it good etiquette to begin working with several agents, but not necessarily work with the same one all the time or for every deal? I plan on getting my real estate license in the future too. Thanks in advance!
