Post: REI Financing for Retirement Accounts

Hello BP Community!

I'm a new member to BP community and have no experience in REI. I'd like to transfer 50% of my retirement savings invested in stock market to real estate investment for passive income from rentals, buy and hold, in the next 5 years. I have a few questions regarding financing the purchase of rental properties through retirement accounts. I'd appreciate any information, advice and suggestions. Thanks!

  • Is there any limitation to obtain a loan for a self-directed IRA account?
  • What if the self-directed IRA account is a checkbook IRA LLC entity?
  • Is there any limitation to obtain a loan for an ROTH IRA account?
  • Is it possible to obtain a loan from a local lender (CA) for properties out of states?
  • Any recommendations of good lenders that accept non-recourse loans?

Hi there,

I’m new to BP and have no experience in real estate. I’m thinking of buying a 2bd condo or a small multi-family unit in Las Vegas as my retirement home. I’d appreciate any recommendation of local realtor, RE attorney, insurance agent, and property manager.  Thank you.

Dean Harris,

It's good to know there is some alternative to TK properties for out of state investors. Thank you.
