Okay, so i've come to realize that before taking steps into doing any investments what so ever in the field of Real Estate, I read EVERYWHERE that finding a mentor and meeting experienced people is the #1 guidance rule. I am looking to attend the REIA of WA meeting in Bellevue, WA this next Monday (3/6/15).

I am a bit nervous.. I tend to be shy at approaching people, but am very friendly, attentive and have many questions to ask and want to learn from all these experienced people. How do I overcome this fear of approach? (Its even worse in my love life to approach women lol). What type of questions do I bring up? Who do I ask? I am starting at the very bottom of the ladder of investing. I've done my share of research and reading. I don't want to come out as a super noob just trying to make a quick buck. I want these people to realize that I want to be taught, I want to be succesful, I want to learn and willing to work hard for it. I am taking this new aspect of life very seriously and want to succed! ADVICE! Criticism is one of the best learning tools!

Also, is there anything I should bring with me other than pen and paper??

Welcome! I reside in Renton, WA and am brand new to the community as well. I have just as much drive as you do to succeed in my investment career. I hope we can be help to each other! My first step is to find a mentor. I am going to attend the REIA (Real Estate Investors Association) of WA Monthly meeting next Monday 6-9pm(3/9/15) In Bellevue at the Red Lion Hotel. The non member fee is $25. For $25, I dont mind meeting new people, networking, getting advice, and putting my face out there. Hopefully meet a few great mentors. I suggest you give it a try as well! All the best

Ultimate beginners guide

After reading that guide, use the "search" function in the top right hand of your screen. For key words use "wholesaling"  , "beginning" , "mentor" .  Just start reading, and don't stop.  Also, the podcasts on iTunes are free and a WEALTH of knowledge. I listen to them in my truck, in the gym, when I am walking my dogs… start at number 1 and keep listening. You will learn more on Biggerpockets than any single book or investor.
Best wishes. Persevere.

Wow! That was a great read! It definetely covered all the basics of getting my foot on the floor plus more. Although, I still have many questions to ask before taking action. Majority of the questions are now step to step proccess questions based on each move I will make. I guess my very first step from where I stand will be to meet a real estate agent that has experience in wholeselling. What would be the best way to approach this with the busy work week I have (full time Tuesday-Friday)? And how would I present myself to them that I am a nooby, but I am taking this process very seriously and view their time being spent teaching me to be more valuable than my own? I also do not want to be taken advantage of.

To meet advisors and mentors, do I just cold call Real Estate agents and tell them pretty much what I stated in my post?

Hello, Rebekah! I, too, am also new to Bigger Pockets in my 20's and want to start investing in Real Estate in Washington state. I've also done much research and saw that wholesaling is the best option. Everybody on this forum are great and provide excellent help. I hope for the best!

Plug into your local investment club, I am sure the greater Seattle area has many. You will meet some people that can give direct LOCAL advice.

Read a few books, and a bunch of posts on Bigger Pockets before your lunches so you aren't wasting anyone's time.

Thank you for the great advice. I have been doing some reading but I will take into account that more research needs to be done. I will definetely go out and face to face meet some mentors. I appreciate the advice.

Okay. So for my first move into success and invesment in Real Estate, I want to complete 1 transaction of a Home Wholesale (Seattle, WA or greater area). I want to know exactly what steps I will need to take. FYI, I do not have much money. (Honestly, about $1,100 to play with as of now)

My "plan" in simple terms was to get a hard money loan (if possible), acquire a foreclosed or auctioned home (after doing research of which would be my best option), maybe do a little quick fixing, and sell to another investor for a small profit (big profit for me). I know that many, many tasks and expenses are including inbetween those quick steps. Those are the steps I need to learn before putting my foot out. I also work full-time Tues-Fridays.

Remember, I am BRAND NEW!! I've got to start somewhere. I am willing to learn and do whatever it takes. I want it to work. I will make it work. But only with the right guidance. And with disciplined patience.

So from some researching. I will begin starting my investment portfolio. My first step is to SAVE! What are good options on saving and putting money aside monthly? Eventually I want to build small assets. But need to figure out the costs and how to do them. I am very new but doing all the reading I can. I just need questions answered!

I am surprised at all the encouragement and enthusiasm that all of you have! Finally a place with no trolling. I've read and took note of every one of your replies. I'm definitely going to get some capital up and look into some assets. I will begin by putting my foot out the door and spending some time shadowing and analyzing before making any moves. You guys are great and am very excited to start my success path.  Hopefully one day, I can come back to this thread and thank all of you for the fortunes I have made!!!
