@James Hamling thank you for your eye-opening comment. You are absolutely right, and it is definitely something I need to work on

@Alex Bekeza, thank you for your tip.

I am a little wary of reviews though.  For instance I left my loan office a few good reviews, and I meant it at the time.

Also, sometimes people with mediocre experiences do not post reviews, or post decent ones to be nice.  But I will take your advice on shopping around.

Hi everyone, just wanted opinions of this community.  I have done 3 deals using a mortgage broker recommended to me by a real estate agent (who I no longer utilize)  This mortgage broker was a little shakey on the first deal but the next 2 deals was always on top of everything and solid.  I have noticed in between some moments of unprofessionalism and slow pace, but nothing stood out.   Recently I am utlizing this broker for another deal and they are slow to respond, with various excuses from being busy, to illness, to computer issues.  I am really starting to get frustrated.    I hate conflict and really don't want to be rude with this individual.  A part of me says let the deal finish and then never use them again.    But at this point it is going at a snails pace and I am afraid to lose the deal.  This is the first time they are being avoidant.  This broker responds to my texts 5-10 hours later or never, and does not pick up my calls.  What would you guys do?

What type of loans are you getting with this broker?  Unless they are specialized or hard-to-find financing options, you should certainly shop around and move on.  Theres definitely some differentiation in the industry (outside of conventional), but a lot of the true product is definitely "the same" so service is really really key for brokers, so a poor experience should equal replaceable in my mind

I am Seeking a DSCR loan (non conventional)

@Michael Dumler,  the first deal, the shakiness involved illness, but eventually with the help of my realestate agent my "deal" was transferred to another loan officer in the same company.

This time, I feel like I am being left out to dry.  I have not received a response for 48 hours,  and before that was 5 days.

Quote from @Russell Brazil:

The main thing to ask yourself here is the loan officer too slow to respond, or do you have unrealistic expectations? Are you expecting them to respond to you in 1 hour, or 48 hours?

And it goes beyond responses.    The loan officer promises to give updates in the next day or two and will only call me a week later still at the same step as before and only start the next step because I consistently hounded them.  That is what is frustrating.

Well that's the thing. I am sort of new to this with 4 single family rentals under my belt (atleast I feel new), so I feel my expectations are realistic, although they may be different from others.  But yes I do feel I would like responses within an hour . lol
