Permits will be required.  Call the city building dept and they will walk you through the process.  You will need drawings of what you are planning to do.  Its not a hard process to get permits. Your work will require inspections by the city during the construction.

Hello, guys. I'm planning to buy a house and want to add some extra spaces on it ( like connect the yard or add a bedroom). Just wondering do I need official files or permits form the government. Or I can just build it any times I want? Thank you!
