I like the idea of attending meetups @Brad Jacobson. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look up BP meetups and other real estate meetings in my local area!

Hi BP members,

I am planning on getting an internship at a property management company this upcoming summer and am struggling to choose a specific company. My goal for this internship is to use my position at the company to learn about the systems and processes I need to implement into my future properties to have successful small multi-family rentals. Any tips on what to look for in potential companies?

Thanks!

@Nicholas L.

Thanks for the different perspective! I understand there is no necessity to work as a property manager in order to run good properties. Being that I'm young and very inexperienced, I'm looking to take the opportunity to get paid to work for a few months and learn the systems and processes of a good property management company so I can learn from them instead of making the mistakes myself and paying for them later when I carry more risk by owning my own properties! I really have no idea how to manage a property, so I figure it doesn't hurt to temporarily get some first hand experience on someone else's dime.

@Scott E.

Thank you for the helpful reply! Your advice makes total sense to me, I'm going to suggest your deal structure to my parents and see what they say. One thing I'm confused about is why should I pay them interest only payments? Would it be better to pay them interest + principle? Could you explain a little more about that?

Thank you!
