we really aren't talking about alot of money, but to me it is the principal of the thing.

Total withheld was $139.

$92 has to do with the lawn/mower

$30 for Cutting in August
$15 for each time cutting in October
$32 for fixing the wheel on the push lawn mower (don't know any more than this)

Yes, he did use the same mowers. The mowers were kept in the neighbors garage who also had access to use them - even though we almost always mowed for them.

thanks beachbum, that is more along the lines of what I was thinking.

to make matters worse, during our final rental month - October the landlord also mowed twice. I don't know why. It is Pennsylvania and its the end of October - it is not like grass is growing wildly! We had planned to mow 1 more time before we left. When he did it I just thought he was being nice as my neighbor in the duplex had already moved out and i figured he had to mow her side anyway. (we always mowed the lawn for her and the LL knew that). I didn't think anything of it until he deducted for these 2 times also from my SD. He also deducted for repairs to the lawn mower. (the LL provided a push mower and riding mower for us to use) I would think this would fall under normal wear and tear just like a dishwasher or refrigerator

these are the only deductions (except for 1 rent dispute amount), all having to do with the lawn, absolutely none for the apartment itself. CRAZY

prior to this, we had a pretty friendly relationship with the LL and no other real problems.

In our lease we are responsible for mowing the lawn.

We always do it and never had any problem (for almost 2 years) until...

We were on vacation in August and the landlord came and mowed the lawn while we were gone (only 1 wk). We left sat and he mowed on mon.

When we got back he told us that the lawn was too long and he had to mow it. Later he sent us a bill in the mail.

Can he do this? Shouldn't he have to give us some sort of notice that he feels the lawn is too long and a deadline to have it done prior to him doing it??

i never paid the bill and since moved out, now the LL is deducting it from my SD
