I am trying to come up with a name for my company.

My plan is to fix and flip to get out of consumer debt. I will then continue to fix and flip to build my buy and hold properties. I want to eventually achieve 100 doors netting me $100 min per door,

I would like to use "Double L" in the name. This is a nickname I have had and also my initials. My daughter married someone with a last name that starts with L so she is Double L as well. (My plans for her to inherit the business)

So here are some ideas:

Double L Investments

Double L Real Estate Investments

Double L Real Property Investments

Double L Real Property Solutions

Any opinions? Suggestions? Irrelevant comments?

Thanks You my BP friends!

30k would barely get me a down payment in this area.

I currently live in a "bedroom community" located about 20 miles from Seattle. The market here is pretty crazy. Multiple offers, houses selling for more than asking price. Even houses coming in below appraisals and buyers paying the difference. The price point of the houses isn't great either with "fixers" from 150k and up. I have been thinking about other markets and have 3 in mind.

  1. About 1.5 hours from my house. Some deals to be had. Slightly lower prices. My daughter and son-in-law live here. They would help.
  2. About 2.5 hours from my house. Substantially lower prices.Stable market, houses from 30k.
  3. About 3.0 hours from my house. Homes from 60k. In the area I would like to retire in.

My plan is to fix and flip to pay off the rest of my debt then continue to fix and flip to finance my buy and holds. I would be able to get more houses for much less money with less competition in these other markets.

I have begun moving toward my first purchase and am learning a ton from this sight!

Although I am pretty new to REI I can speak to the societal views of tattoos. It could depend on your location. It looks like your from Austin. I live in Seattle area and I have found the "middle aged" couples are getting tattooed at close to the same rate as the younger crowd. I think your concern over the tats is more troublesome than the actual tats. Don't let it effect your view of yourself as a top-shelf professional, in fact, maybe you should focus on giving such good service you can break some of those antiquated opinions! Good luck to you!

I don't feel BP is "pushing" anything but I recently purchased both books. For someone starting out they are a great summary of real world flipping and cost estimations. I have found them to be very easy reading and not overly technical. They kind of break things down step by step like I need as a newbie. Don't forget to read their free beginners guide it is great too.
From all I've seen and the hundreds of posts and articles I have read BP is a very unique site in that they really don't try and sell you anything. You can do most stuff totally free. That said I will be upping my membership to PRO soon just because I want to support this incredible blog.
Dang I sound like a BP commercial lol!

My house is a large 7 year old two story that was starting to get some pretty bad green spots. The pros that did it srayed it down with a bleach mixture and then pressure washed it.....looks like new and the bleach helps slow the return of the green.

Hey everyone,

I won't go into introducing myself, I've done that in the 'Introduction' section of the forum already..http://www.biggerpockets.com/forums/55/topics/94877-new-member-from-israel

I've been reading through some blog posts and listening to the podcasts from @Josh Dorkin and @Brandon Turner.
Being new to the world of real estate, I'm trying to discover what is the best niche for myself. However, I find myself being inundated with different options like wholesaling, holdings, flips, leases, commercial or residential.. not to mention loads of acronyms that only add to the confusion.

Is there anything that can be recommend to newbies to help them find the right direction and niche to start off with? Any tips to assist in self-assessment to recognize strengths and weaknesses?

Thanks a lot!!

I feel your pain!
I was in your same spot just two weeks ago. I can proudly say I am slightly less lost and confused!
Here is my two cents:

What are your long term goals?
What are your short term goals?

I entered into this wanting to flip houses and got really confused with all the other opportunities.
I have decided I am going to start by flipping a few houses to fund my long term buy and hold strategy. I work full time and I thought my only option was to eventually become a full time investor but realized I can keep my job and just do as much as I can on the side.
It is different for everyone but you will figure it out.
I am doing better since I started taking real action though.
Visited a couple investment properties, talked to a couple local banks, ordered the books here on BP and ordered my business cards.
I found I need to do and learn....just reading and analyzing everything is too scary.
Good luck and you'll get lots of great advice on here!
