@John Syn i am not a real estate attorney so do your own due diligence, but I would not be too worried.

People’s situations can change at a moments notice. I am not sure how a mortgage company can tell that you can not take a promotion at your job someplace else, or buy another home and move into that place, etc.

We were in the same situation where we bought a home and months later we had to move again and we turned that him into a vacation rental.

@Gayle Eisner did you ever end up buying here? We are looking g at expanding our properties to the Yellowstone area and looking to connect with some people in that market

@Joe Splitrock thanks! Seems like a the cleaner is the common suggestion

@Jefferson Brown thanks for the advice on once I scale. Sounds like it is the cleaner for now!

@John Underwood thanks for the feedback!

@Luke Carl much appreciated feedback. Keep up the good work on the podcast as well!

@Ken Boone I just ASSumed the cleaner was the cleaner and I needed someone else to be the face person. But it looks like most people just use their cleaner/housekeeper. Thanks!

Hopefully a quick question here… I am looking to self manage our 2 vacation rentals in Paso Robles, CA. We live about 3hr’s away and will need to build a team.

My main concern is finding someone (other then the cleaner) that can help out with guest request and running things to the house if needed. I already have a handyman and cleaner.

Does anyone here have a similar set up? Do you pay them a percentage or a flat rate?

Any other suggestions?

Much appreciated!

@Leon Lee I've found that building great relationships with full time neighbors works wonders with a home that you're not living at. For my upcoming STR I've worked out a deal with a neighbor who will help manage moving trash and recycling bins on proper days and I will get another large bin and possibly a bear box to surround the bins to accommodate for more trash + thwart animals. I have two other neighbors that watch over the house and would take trash out on an emergency basis.

Additionally options like Craigslist or Facebook marketplace have been solid for me to get people for rubbish cleanups I've had in the past. I'm sure you can post and find somebody local that'll do an going trash task for you

I agree with Ryan here, neighbors are hugely important for help with you STR. We hare lucky enough to have a long-term rental on our property and we let them use our bins in exchange for taking then out on trash day.

We have built great relationships with our neighbors and they will take the bins out in the event our long term renter is gone.
