Post: REI in states other than the business home state

Hello BP!

We are new to REI. We are in the process of setting up our LLC in Maryland. However, we intend to do business in Washington, DC as well.

Does anyone know the process of buying, selling, flipping houses in Washington, DC with an out of state business? I know there is additional paperwork to file (and prob a fee to pay) but I am unsure of where to look for that information. Does anyone have a link to such information?  We are new to the business world but eager to learn and take action.

Best Regards,

Hello BP!

How did you develop your contracts for your contractors? Particularly, the contractors that were doing repairs on the property?

Hello BP!

We are starting a LLC that will initially focus on real estate flipping. Traditionally, taxes and home owners insurance is paid via escrow via the bank that carries the home loan (at least that has been my personal experience). With that being said, how do you approach paying taxes and home owners insurance?

This question is for anyone with a RE LLC. What type of insurance is recommended for the business?

Hello BP!

We are new to REI. We are currently forming a LLC and will start with flipping residential homes in our local area. We are considering using hard money lenders to finance a few flips. With that being said, what has you experience been with attaining property/home owners insurance while the property is in your possession? Traditionally, insurance and taxes are paid via escrow. How does that work with hard money/personal loans?
