I wouldn't be so picky as to say that I would have to be paid, although it would be nice. I am majoring in finance with a specialization in real estate and urban economics, and thus looking for a way to gain experience in this field.
Thank you for your responses.

Is anyone familiar with someone, or a company that hires college interns for the summer term?

For those experienced commercial real estate investors, what do you see as a most important aspect to that property. I am starting to invest with a couple others and we want to get a start in the commercial realm.
What do you investors look for specifically when assessing commercial properties? Any hints or ideas would greatly appreciated! Thank you all for responses to my other posts as well!

I have come to the realization that most people prefer simply reading books for beginners rather than taking courses. Those people who have strong opinions about the matter, what books have you read that make you believe this is the right option.

What are the best books that you have found on real estate investing?

Yeah, my family and I go to the lake about every other weekend in the summer. We have a place right across the street from Dog Days. Do you ever go there?

John,
That sounds like a great idea. To be honest I am new to this site, and have never really heard of any local people in an investors club which im sure exist, just not common knowledge to me. What exactly goes on in such meetings, and also since I dont have the experience to be active investing all year around would the see me as a drag on the group?

Thank you all for your responces. Leo, i feel that this is a motivational course with a little knowledge to gain. I'm simply taking this course to see what other perpectives are and what people have accomplished. Thank you for your lengthy post, and i hope your second year goes better than planned.

The richest people i know have been down and out at least once. The possibility of success is the overriding feeling that drives those people to keep going. I grew up with the name Atkins being thrown around Champaign Illinois. He has been a sort of motivation story for me because hes a local entreprenuer that started out like 90% of Americans. He bought into an apartment building and cashed out with a million cash, and later on bought the company Hobbico. He is now extremely wealthy and ownes a yacht in the Carribbean that rents for about 750,000 dollars a week. Anyone with a strong ambition can reach ranks of this guy, it just takes the urge to learn and act out on your knowledge!
