Hi, I am planning to purchase my first property at the end of 2021 via House Hack in New Jersey. I recently started reading the Bigger Pockets book that talks about the BRRR method which advises you to first save enough capital so that you can buy a property in cash. I am now unsure of whether to go with the House Hack this year, or wait a few years to save up enough money. Anyone have any advice?

Hi all!

I’m currently living and renting in Manhattan. My lease is up in December of this year and I want to purchase my first property in New Jersey (House Hack). Preferably somewhere that allows me to get into Manhattan easily. Does anyone have any lenders they would advise for me to speak with? Does anyone have any markets in mind? I’m thinking of purchasing a single family and renting out the rooms, but open to all suggestions!

You’re inspiring! I’ve only been working for a year now but once I discovered house hacking, I knew it was the only way for me to achieve the freedom I desire. I definitely do want to follow your journey though! What would be the best way to do that?

That’s great! I’d love to watch your journey. My apartment lease isn’t up until December unfortunately so that’s when I plan to buy. I’m in commercial real estate so I help companies and organizations with their real estate needs

So far I’ve looked into Montclair as well as jersey city. I need to find a place where the commute into Manhattan is simple. When are you looking to purchase?

I’m from Huntington! I’m currently renting in Manhattan but I want this to be the last time I rent so I’ve been looking at places in New Jersey. I want to do the 3.5% house hack and rent one of the rooms or units out!

What part of New Jersey are you looking into? I’m from Long Island also!
