@Alexander Brian Frederick as I looked at Philly, I found the multi-family homes were a lot higher in price and taxes in more favorable neighborhoods. Am I looking at this the wrong way? What advice would you give? Because Philly would be my number one choice if it was more affordable...

@Matt Dixon @james my first property is in Baynard! I chose Wilmington because the property taxes are significantly lower than Philly and it was closer to our family (we are house hacking this triplex so the location to family was important). However, I wish I could say I was more familiar with the Wilmington market. Any suggestions or insights are appreciated.

Hey folks,

My name is Nick Wilson and I am a high school teacher from Philadelphia, PA. I have been listening to Bigger Pockets podcast and reading blog posts on the website for well over a year and really want to engage in the Bigger Pockets community more intentionally!

MY WHY:

I grew very frustrated with not having enough time to do the things that are most important to me (mainly spending time with loved ones and tapping into my creative side). However, what TRULY fuels my fire is seeing my dad work the night shift for the past 15 years and see how it’s robbed him of his physical and social health! He recently had a series of life threatening medical issues that took him out of work and seeing him struggle to survive financially during this time has made me hungrier than ever to achieve financial freedom for my family (I’m married and just recently had my first son)! So I made the decision to apply what I’ve read in “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki to get out of the “Rat Race” and no longer work for money but let my money work for me. I am excited to say that I took  the first step toward my goals and am closing this month on my first triplex in Wilmington, DE!

I am very creative with music, creative writing and designing curriculum (I’m a certified teacher). I also spent two years as the Creative Director for a talent management company where I oversaw the branding and project roll out of our clients.  If there is any value I can provide to you in those areas (or anything else) please do not hesitate to reach out!

Thanks for reading and let’s connect!
