@Dannielle O'Buckley I’m in the same boat looking to invest elsewhere due to California being crazy expensive. Yet to buy my first property but getting the skids greased by learning to analyze properties in other markets. From there I found out my wife has a friend in Pittsburgh who is an agent and that has took some of the scary out of it. My advice would be to look into your own network of friends and family to find either someone who is an agent or PM in an affordable market and start talking with them. It has taken a lot of pressure off moving forward knowing that I’m using someone that is recommended or related to my existing network of associates/friends. Just my 2 cents

@Joe Villeneuve I agree and it seems like if you are up front about it with the agents you chose it should be ok but I’m not sure what etiquette is.

@Chris Mason seems like agents may have different skill sets or areas of expertise and some incentive to earn money by finding a deal that works but I also feel like it may dissuade an agent from working with you. I’m still torn I guess

Is there anything wrong with working with multiple agents in a single market in order to get leads on deals?

@Fatoumata Coulibaly

I’d say your a step ahead of me as I am yet to invest in my first investment property. All those lessons learned will serve you well. Hopping I can learn a few things to minimize risk.... also hoping I actually take the risk. Good for you.

@Kalanie Tran I may end up going out of state as well. I lived in Lake Tahoe in high school and my brother still lives in Reno so I’ve thought about Nevada but Reno is getting quite expensive as well albeit not SoCal
