Quote from @John Underwood:

If you can identify property you can look up property on county website.

If you know the owners name, Google can do wonders to get contact info.

Why do you think property is underperformed?

Also owner may want to use property and just rent it out some. So owner may be happy with performance.

I think your time would be better served trying to find a property to buy instead of looking for a job helping someone manage their property.

This particular property that I looked at is managed by a PM company and it has bad reviews especially for cleanliness. I eventually want to buy a house but I think as a novice this will give me some experience and the opportunity to learn the challenges that I will need to overcome once I do buy my property.

After numerous unsuccessful attempts to secure a deal to cohost, I’ve decided to adopt a new strategy. Could anyone provide guidance on how to obtain the contact information of an underperforming host on Airbnb? I understand that sending them a message through the platform may flag me for solicitation. Please assist me in exploring this approach.

Hello BP Community!

I'm located in Rochester, NY, and I'm looking to partner up with someone to co-host a short-term rental property. I'm new to the STR game and eager to learn the ropes, so I'm offering my co-hosting services for free in exchange for experience and networking opportunities.

I’ve been working on this strategy for several months now and have a network of people who are super-host that I can get advice from. I also have plenty of time to tend to the job since I'll be working from home.

My strengths include strong communication skills (I'm also bilingual in Spanish!), remote work capabilities, attention to detail, and a strong focus on guest satisfaction. I'm hoping to find someone who is experienced in short-term rentals, patient, and willing to teach me how to cohost effectively.

If you're interested in teaming up and creating a successful STR business together in the Rochester area, please reach out! I'm excited to connect and explore this opportunity with you.

can you house hack an STR? it's a lower risk way to get started.

Yea I’m looking for an opportunity to buy a property now, just wondering if I actually have to live in the house.

@Patricia Andriolo-Bull

Try starting your own business with a website and domain name as well as Google or Yelp review page, this may help legitimize your situation ,then have people on here write you some reviews to help generate authenticity. Good Luck!

Quote from @Andrew Street:

Hey there Kevin!

I totally get it—starting in STR can be tough, especially when cold calling and emailing aren't working. Arbitrage could be a great way to get started without owning property. Have you considered partnering with landlords? It can be easier than cold outreach, especially if you offer them guaranteed rent and hassle-free management.

Also, marketing can really help you stand out—whether it’s through listing on multiple platforms, building a solid website, or using social media for direct bookings. Don’t get discouraged by the initial investment.

If you'd like, I'd be happy to connect and chat about how to use marketing to expand your network and grow your STR business. You've got this!

Yes lets connect and share some strategies. I’d like to hear more from you. Im truly grateful for your support!

Quote from @Jon Martin:

All great advice above, especially in regards to cohosting > arbitrage. Cold calling sounds like a drag . . . Don't let that part get you down, most (or at least many) hosts don't get their properties that way.

Maybe look to purchase a property instead of cold calling for arbitrage? A good starting point would be a 10% 2nd home loan or an owner occupied 5% loan where you can convert a basement or studio into a simple 1 bedroom unit and basically let your guests pay your mortgage.

If you don't have the cash, start saving now, and if you can pick up a cohost client or 2 you will save it quicker than you think. Good luck

How can I start cohosting, if calling is not recommended. Is it one of those things that I just have to know someone and partner up with them. I know it possible just am curious to where I can find them
