I'm just now trying to get into this game. I have a very well paying job in the Oilfield, but I want to get out of it. I spend too much time away from home. This year I suffered a layoff which threw a wrench in things, and we are almost recovered from that, but that also gave me more of a reason to want to do this. 

Right now I'm learning and networking, and plan to have my first property by the first quarter of next year. I plan to keep this job for at least another couple of years as it provides good income to help buy properties. But once I have a couple under my belt, I intend to get out and be that entrepreneur.

Are there any good options besides the actual MLS? I don't have access to that yet.
