@Steve G., yes that is correct.  That's why I went ahead with them.  So far so good, we are still going through a lot of paperwork and requests from the underwriter, but it seems to be moving forward.

Hi @Suzanne Y.! I am a US citizen (and now a Kiwi as well) living in NZ, and investing in the US.  I am getting systems in place for wholesaling and buy and hold in the US, as well as looking into doing the same here.  There are a good amount of others doing similar virtual investing fro within and outside the US, so you are in good company.  Welcome and please feel free to get in touch!

Hey @Steve G., I'm not sure what help this will be to you, as I am a US Citizen, but I bank mostly with Chase, who has been incredibly helpful in their private banking division (ver personalized) and Well Fargo, with whom I am taking out a HELOC against our NYC apartment equity. Chase wanted to help with the HELOC, but their rules required my presence in the US, whereas Wells didn't have any issues with it.

Hey Alex Franks

Thanks for getting in touch! Will certainly keep folks posted as things progress. It's early days so still getting all the pieces in place but I have to say so far so good. I've meet some wonderful people already that are helping things progress very smoothly.

Our Partner from Auckland is doing some projects in Memphis , and Houston as well. Virtually everything is being done , with boots on the ground guys. While he still comes over to over see things. So good luck and stay in touch. We are all supposed to do the New Zealand Trip after the 100th home sells.

Alex

Alex, that is certainly some inspiring news!  The more I progress, and the more I talk to others, the more I find that the path I have set out upon is not only possible, but has been and is being proven by numerous others. At the end of the day, given the time, resources, and motivation, we are fortunate enough to be able to build the life we want, and all these stories are proof of it.

Would love to get in touch with your partner in Auckland and find out all the things they have learned through their experiences.

@Brian Lacey, I'd love to know the background about why Brazil is about to have blood in the streets.  I am asking genuinely, because I'd love to know how one would learn both where the next "hot" place is to scoop up property, and if it's in another coutry, how to make that a reality.

I love the idea of purchasing foreign investment property, but it is, how can I put it, so foreign of an idea to me :-)

Hey @Kelly ZumBerge!  Welcome!  I'm new around BP myself, and an investor in the Austin area as well.  You will find the folks here very friendly - in just a matter of days, I have felt the warm welcome already!

Hey @James Messa and @Eric Moore.  Thanks for the replies and well wishes!

I have already spoken to a few folks on the ground in Austin about doing deals, and have even started more directed conversations with someone who is Austin based and very keen to test the waters of partnering on some deals.  So we will see how it goes, but I have heard of it working before, and I'm confident I'll find a way.

Afterall with such a supportive community as this on BP, it seems the probability of making something work is rather high :-)
