This would be a primary residence. My parents are chinese so sometimes its hard to discuss real estate terms with them since my chinese isn't so great. Also I wanted to research on my own instead of getting spoon-fed. So I can pay 3% down with a FHA loan? Would I still need mortgage insurance? What are the drawbacks of using a FHA loan?

Haha quite the coincidence... Never met anyone else with my name. They're most likely paying the full down payment. I have a job with an annual salary of 60k. I probably have around 20k saved up. My credit is excellent but I've never had a huge loan like a house before. I did recently purchase a car. Thanks again for the help!

Hi,

I'm a pretty young individual. I'm looking to buy a single family house with a purchase price around 400-500k. My question is how much do I need to save to be able to legally buy this house? My parents are able to help me with the mortgage/down payments so that's why financial security isn't a big issue. I just need to know how much I need to "get by". What loans would i qualify for? I heard there are some very good first time home buyer programs? This is new york by the way.Thank you!

Modular is basically the same as site built except its made in a factory then permanently put in place at the location you desire

Hi Guys,

I'm looking to buy a new property to live in. I found out about modular homes recently and the whole concept intrigues me. What do you guys think ? Pros and cons? Thank you.

Thanks for the input guys. So what I'm getting is that it's just matter of opinion? My parents also share that opinion. They feel like it looks a workplace and not homely at all. I love how it looks though. Are there any drawbacks? Maybe insulation? Or cost? Thanks again.

Hey guys,

I'm about to make my first purchase for a property to live in and settle in. I plan to do more REI in the future but this is a home I WANT TO MAKE NICE. So I've always been in love with modern style houses (square shaped and boxy looking kind of). I've always wondered why I barely see any of them around. In my opinion they look so beautiful and professional. I'm also a tech guy so i'm into futuristic concepts. Maybe thats why. Is it more expensive for the materials? Harder to maintain? Expensive to find someone to design?

These are some examples:

My town is Roslyn, Nassau County. Yeah I should probably look into foreclosures. Do you know if zestimates from zillow are accurate? And I prefer to do holds so basically have the rent pay off the mortgage. Thanks again!

Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations for markets in Nassau/Suffolk? Around 300-500k price value range with 50-70k for a down payment. I was thinking Garden city for Nassau but prices seem quite high. Or maybe Stony Brook for Suffolk. Problem with that is I live in Nassau so I highly prefer somewhere closer (easier to manage). Thanks for the advice guys!
