Looking to update your baseboards, or possibly looking to add crown molding to one of your properties or primary home? As landlords ourselves, we understand the importance of ROI and being able to get the most out of your properties to bring in as much cash flow as possible. Bar Down Carpentry is fully insured, and we pride ourselves on being responsive, as well as respectful of properties to ensure minimal disruption during work.

Hello! My husband has started his own interior finish carpentry business and is looking to take on clients in the Twin Cities area in Minnesota. Here is a link to his company website, as well as a link to his business Facebook page. @John

@John Woodrich Is the course through DLI? Or a 3rd party? Having it during the week would actually be nice for him since he makes his own schedule.

You're awesome! Yes, I'd love the info on the class you took. I'm looking over some of the practice info from the website and it's pretty confusing, and my husband isn't much of a book person when it comes to learning. Thank you so much for responding.

My husband is starting is own LLC that will focus on remodeling, and in order to get licensed, he has to complete the Residential Remodeler Exam. We have the guide through DLI which shows the codes to focus on, but I was wondering if anyone else here has taken it. I'm wondering if everything has to be memorized, and also what other resources you found helpful when preparing. I'm looking over the codes, but some of the stuff that's included is kind of crazy (like the formulas for the climatic and geographic design criteria) and I have no idea if that's even relevant for him to know.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has done this exam before.

Thanks @John Woodrich, that's really helpful! I don't know why they have different instructions on the forms they send out on how to collect on a judgement, but that one is much more straightforward!

So I called the Court Admin since I didn't have a legal question, just a question on their posted process. I have to have the case transcribed ($40) which then gives a new case number, and that allows you to be able to collect. I can then get a Writ of Execution at the same time from the court house and then I can start the collection process. Instructions online don't specify the REQUIREMENT for the case to be transcribed after the 30 days have passed. So for others of you who were wondering, you'll need to do that.

Hopefully someone else finds this helpful!

Hello! I am in the process of starting to collect on a judgement that I won, but I ran into a bit of a question. I sent forms several forms to my tenant (Execution Exemption Notice & Notice of Intent to Levy on Earnings, Judgement Debtor's Exemption Claim Notice, Affidavit of Judgement Debtor, and Earnings Execution Disclosure) and it has been 16 days and they did not respond in any way (and yes, I have confirmation of these items being delivered).

I have decided to go after their bank account, as I have that information, and I am going to be getting a Writ of Execution. I have completed the forms that the Sheriff will need, but now I am seeing that I need to have "docketing" done as a "step one" before I can start collecting. I didn't see anything about which Affidavit of Identification I need to send (debtor or creditor) or where I send it to, outside of the one I already sent to my old tenant. Since the old tenant has been unresponsive to my packet of info (including the Affidavit of Judgement Debtor that she was to fill out), I don't know if I can actually send that information to the court, as I'm not sure if her employer information is still current.

My question is, do I have to submit an Affidavit of Identification for myself to the district court I have been using? Or, do I submit what I think is the most accurate Affidavit of Identification for the debtor? Or, since it's past the 16 day grace period for them to respond with that information, do I have to do that at all? Can I just start the process to get my Writ of Execution from the court and then send that along the documents to get an Execution Levy on Funds at a Financial Institution to the sheriff?

The information for the whole process has been very clear except this one part. I'm hoping someone has done this before in Ramsey County in St. Paul, MN who can help with this question. Otherwise, I suppose I can wait to call on Monday, but I am eager to get things moving and take serious action, especially since they've decided ignoring my documents will make me go away.

Thanks!
