Welcome @Carolyn Paige !  This site is priceless in what it has to offer both new and experienced investors.  I recommend going on meetup.com and looking through the real estate investing groups on there and their upcoming events (R.I.N.G., HAPCO, DIG etc.).  I have attended a good amount and have really made some great connections.  Wishing you all the best on your investing journey!

Welcome to BP @Joshua T.!  I am relatively new to the Philly area as well (less than a year) and I am at the stage of getting a better understanding of the different neighborhoods and the overall real estate market here.  Aside from the forums on BP and the other resources available, I have found that the local meetups are extremely beneficial.  Create an account on meetup.com and take a look at all the different real estate events going on, there is always something going on.  Good luck and see you around the site!

Congratulations @Joe Fairless!  Sounds like you and your partners have developed some really great systems for your business.  Thanks for sharing your lessons learned!  Best of luck on all your future ventures.

Welcome to BP @Jen Carlo!  I am in the same researching/learning phase as you and your wife, its an exciting time, but lots to absorb.  Seems like you already have the right idea of listening to the podcasts, reading etc.  I do recommend checking out some of the local meetups in the Philly area to connect and network with seasoned investors as well as newbies.  Good luck and see you around the site!

Welcome @Account Closed, glad to see another motivated investor on BP who is from the Philly area.  I am not a Philly native so I am in the same boat as you in terms of figuring out the best areas to look for deals/invest in.  I recommend going to meetup.com and try to attend a few local investor events, the people there are seasoned investors that offer valuable insight on the areas to watch.  Another way to evaluate is to simply drive around, see if stores are coming in, if street lights are being put up etc.  Those are pretty good indicators of an area being developed/redeveloped. Best of luck and see you around!

Welcome to BP @Jeff Zenko!  I am relatively new to the investing world also and have gained a lot of insight from listening to the podcasts, reading the Ultimate Beginner's Guide and attending local investor meetups.  Check out meetup.com for upcoming events.  Just this past weekend I sat with a group of seasoned investors in the Philly market and learned so much about the trends, different neighborhoods, strategies that worked/didn't work etc.  For us "newbies" connecting and engaging with people already in the game is imperative.  Good luck and see you around!

Great rehab @Troy Sheets and @Mark Redmann!  I'm fairly new to Philadelphia and still getting my bearings on the neighborhoods/streets to look at as well as avoid.  Any advice or suggestions on the Brewerytown area?

Great success story @Nikki Grizzle!  Hoping to be in the same position as you within the next few months, reading this definitely inspired me even more!

Best of luck and keep up the great work!

@Jessie Boyce I was actually wondering the same thing. I have a attended a few meetings and would love to give cards out but haven't established my business yet either. I am thinking there is no harm in making a card with my contact info so that it is easier to network while at events. Good luck with your REI journey!
