Christine, from what I was able to tell through the pictures it did not look like it needed much rehab. I am waiting to hear back from the agent to see able a showing to investigate more, and see if anything was left out of the photos. I would just need to replace all the appliances since it looks like the previous owner took those with them. I will definitely check for liens as well though, thank you!

@Chad McMahan the comps that I was looking at were all in the same or neighboring area with close to the same beds/baths, square footage, etc. That is part of what I am skeptical about though, the amount of people looking to rent a property so large. Thank you for the advice!

Good morning BiggerPockets friends! I am a brand new investor that has been spending all my time learning and researching properties. I am currently trying to find my first deal and have come across a property that has intrigued me, but think it may be a bit over my head, so here I am reaching out to the seasoned veterans of the forums!

The property is a very large SF residence (7,000 sqft) that is a foreclosure. The only reason I even considered looking further into the property is due to the price being almost 50% less than the comps in the area, so I would have a lot of equity once everything was said and done. My first question is simply is this too big of an undertaking for a first time investor? Secondly, are large SF homes the kinds of properties that people actually look to rent long term, or is it more of a vacation rental investment?

Thank you in advance for any and all help that can be offered!

Thank you both for your responses! I was on the fence about what to think. The die diligence period was when I figured I would find out if they were in fact hiding anything. I guess I was just a bit skeptical cause of the way the realtor was so direct about not being able to see it before an offer was accepted. the numbers make sense as of right now, so I may go ahead and make an offer so I can get in and see the property then go from there. Thank you both!

Good afternoon Bigger Pockets forum! I am a new investor and this is my first post to the forums here!! I am currently facing an issue that I would like to get experienced investors opinion on to see if my thoughts are warrented or not.

I have started doing a lot of searching for my first deal and have come across a property I really like. I recently asked to schedule a walk through of the property prior to submitting an offer. The property is almost 40 years old so there are certain items I want to see prior to going in on it. I was told that I cannot do a walk through until an offer is submitted and accepted. I was also told by the realtor that the tenants do not know the property is for sale and to not try and get in touch with them about it. Is this a common practice (the realtor trying to weed out anything but serious buyers), or something that is a bit out of the ordinary. My initial thoughts are along the lines of the realtor and/or buyer trying to keep certain things hidden.

Thank you in advance for any help and opinions that you can offer!!!
