@Jay DeCima : thank you for your input. I will keep an open mind about class B neighborhoods and will definitely do due diligence before investing.

Thanks BP'ers, you guys are so helpful! Much love!

@Lee Taylor : how are you liking Brooklyn?! Thank you for your input, a vote of confidence from a local is always good!

Hello fellow BP'ers,

Newbie here.

I'm planning to visit Atlanta, GA the last week of July with my boyfriend to look at different neighborhoods and surrounding cities for SFR-4plex investment. Although my real estate agent friend tells me I am probably 4-5 years late to the game to be investing in Atlanta, I still think it has the fundamentals that make it a stable investing market. It's still a major travel hub, has great schools, and a stable economy.

What areas do you think are best for investing? We want stable class B or A neighborhoods w/ great schools, and low crime, to be hands off as we are from New York City (so would need turnkey or a great team w/ realtor and property management). I am reading good things about Roswell, Alpharetta, Sandy Springs.

We'll also be making a stop in Savannah for a few days. And why not look at REI while we are there? Any suggestions in terms of Savannah GA?

Also best food suggestions? Yelp is not always so reliable in certain areas. :)

Thanks much!

@Chris Dawson I will PM you shortly, thanks for reaching out.

@Carrie Hallensleben I would love to pick your brain about the areas in KC you invest in. I'll PM you.

Good evening bp'ers! Thank you all for the great advice!

@Jason Hawk thank you for reaching out, I will PM you shortly to discuss.

@Paul Timmins, that is a brilliant idea. I will definitely start researching and asking around. We'll be in KC for only 3 days so a REIA meeting is probably not feasible. Thank you!

@Jayson Edwards I can tell you are a fellow foodie! Thank you for the recs for food and places to avoid. I would want to be in better school districts and nice neighborhoods.

@Mike D'Arrigo KC is a top contender for us, I will PM you shortly to discuss. Thank you!

@Jeffrey Vandagriff indeed there is much BBQ to be had! Can't wait!

Hi BPers!

I'm a newbie from NYC, have yet to do my first real estate deal, and looking into buy and hold SFR to 4-plexes (low maintanence is ideal like B and A class 'hoods). I've been looking into different markets and have narrowed it down to Kansas City, Savannah, Atlanta, and Dallas. Before making any deals I'm going to spend a little time in each of these markets, plus it gives my boyfriend and I an excuse to go on vacation and eat a lot of food!

We have booked our plane tickets to visit Kansas City MO for a few days at the end of the month to see some sites, eat some BBQ, and meet some players in the KC real estate market. Although we aren't ready to pull the trigger yet, I do want to see some neighborhoods and meet some people that we could work with in the future.

So BPers, can ya steer me in the right direction? Who do you recommend we contact (ie, Turnkey companies ? Property management companies? Real estate agents/investors)?

We would also love recommendations as to where locals love to eat/drink/hang!

Your help is much appreciated!! Thanks in advance!

Hi All,
My name is Karena and I was born and raised (and still live) in New York City. It's a crazy real estate market here and I am slowly realizing that although I'm only 32, I am not saving/investing my money well. Luckily, I was able to purchase a condo in a new development in Brooklyn in 2011, with my mom lending me a significant about of the down payment, which I still own and live in w/ a roommate.  Without, I would not be able to buy in NY then and especially now. After reading a bunch of investment books, I am now realizing that investing in the stock market is too volatile, mutual funds are no bueno, and that real estate is what I want to start investing in. Earning 0.1% on a savings acct with a big bank really is ridiculous. I work 6 days/ week and when I'm not working I love cooking, biking, and travelling.

I just started listening to the bp podcast, on episode 28 currently...there's so many eps! And I am excited and eager to learn about real estate for cash flow, long term investment and to eventually have some financial freedom. Can't wait to meet the peeps on biggerpockets, this community really seems to be a good and honest helpful forum for it's members.

Cheers!
