- Public court records, particularly if the owners have a unique first or last name.  This can reveal a legal counsel's name that might be easier to find too.  (Not sure how free or available this is in Florida, sorry.  Varies greatly per county here.)  Some records reveal an upcoming eviction with the property address.

-  Facebook, especially if unique first or last name.  They're probably on Facebook, and some relative of theirs is on Facebook if they're not.  Few people lock things down, so it's usually a lot of private data.  You can usually glean some details on contacting them, and if you're really lucky, they'll post a phone # or data on their new job, which you can then find.

Thanks for the reply.

-According to the appraiser site, the bills are being sent to the abandoned house

-I will get to taking to the neighbors in the morning. I should have done this when I first saw the house

-I haven't been able to find anything on public records or facebook. It's been pretty shocking because I always seem to find some type of lead

While driving for dollars, I came across an obviously abandoned home. I have been trying to find the owner but no luck getting in touch with the person.

While doing research on it, I found that the taxes haven't been paid for a couple years. It's the smallest home in the neighborhood at under 1000sft but has a possible ARV of 120-130k.

I would like to take this on as a project but my credit and funds are on the lower end. I am looking for advice on what to do next.

Is there a way for me to take this on if I can not find the owner?

Since owner is absent, is this a dead end?

Thanks for any advice given!

Wayne Brooks I searched the appraisal site when it was in search for the owner. When I saw his name listed, I thought he owned up completely- rookie mistake. I did find a small lien but had no problem dealing with that. This experience did teach me valuable lessons, big on the plural hahaha

Curt Davis thank you for the input. Do you mean he would have to pay the difference of my offer? Seems like this would be a deal I have to give up on

Hey BPers I was in negotiation to buy a home that has been abandoned for around 3 years. With the helpful push of some members on here, I went through with the contract signing and sending it to a title company. After 5 days of high anticipation (first rehab) I receive a call from the closing agent stating the contract is void because the owner has a mortgage around 40k. He never told me this and came off as though he completely owned the property. Thank goodness for the closing agent! My issue is this, I still want to purchase the house but in no wag want his mortgage. The repair value alone looks to be around 30k and location is in a 50-80k neighborhood. Is there anything I can do to continue this deal without the mortgage issue? Should I let this go and search for a new location? Any other options??

I guess you hit it on the last past. I've done a lot of reading and studying and guess I don't want to mess this up being my first deal.

Hey BPers I am located in Tampa, Fl. Currently, I am looking for a real estate agent to help me close on a home. I talked to the owner a month ago and yesterday he contacted me willing to sale. The discussion ended with him lowering his initial price. Really want to close on this soon.
