There is still a huge hurdle for Bitcoin broad acceptance. Sure, a small portion of the population has embraced it, but the general public is much too cautious to use it as a currency for common payments and banking.

Remember, perception is reality. Today’s broad perception of Bitcoin is that it’s like buying a stock the value of which fluctuates widely.

Daily worldwide transactions in Bitcoin are minuscule compared to transactions in any other currency. Until it gets broad support it will continue to fluctuate wildly. Sure, the trend continues to be up. But few people are willing to see any significant part of their finances that they use for any short term purposes, like rent/food/heat/clothing, to have that type of fluctuation.

Just my $.02...

FYI, it's not just the coast in OR. Most of the destination locations in OR, think Bend, Hood River etc, are not STR friendly. Then again OR isn't a LL friendly state overall...

@Tone Church

We use them on our multi family properties, in the public areas only. I.e. lobby, parking lot, yard, shared laundry facility. I would not put them inside any units because of privacy issues.

Not sure how that would work for SFH, as a fenced back yard could be a "private" area too.

We use Reolink systems.

Size of the tank definitely determines the number of occupants it can handle. If the tank isn’t large enough to “digest” the solids going into it, the solids layer on the top will become too thick. Once it’s too thick the solids then go into the drain field. Solids into the drain field will cause it too fail. Pumping the tank frequently does avoid the solid layer building up and becoming to thick.
As mentioned, the drain field also has to be able to handle the volume of water being used each day.
Both the tank and the field must be able handle the waste being generated. The tank for the solids and the field for the liquid volume.

We had very similar experiences, in April went from nearly 100% booked to 0 almost overnight. We have a unique location, it’s not a typical vacation spot. No beaches, or major destination spot nearby. But we are driving distance from 4 major east coast cities in a small town on the Chesapeake. Close to some wedding and youth sport venues, which have been our bread & butter in the past along with weekend get away for city residents.
We did decide to accept a furnished 5 month stay in one unit that would cover expenses. Then in June we became inundated and fully booked with people tired of being at home and for 7-14 day stays. They could drive from the city and our units have cable internet with washers & dryes in each.
Turning out to be our best year even with the challenges.
We’re fortunate to have cleaning crews that could and did take on the extra challenge of disinfecting. We simply passed on the increased charges.

We use Reolink at our locations. They are very well rated and work great over wifi.  One thing that we like about them is that they don't need a power source as they are POE (get power from the ethernet wire). They are mid range cost, very durable and adjustable.

I agree with John, make it part of your cleaners job and pay them what’s necessary to make it happen. Then pass this on to the guests. You’ll find that most don’t even blink an eye. Especially is it’s like another $50 spread out over 12-20 people. Heck, we pay over $100 for 4-6 person units.
I was reluctant at first to pass a full cleaning fee to guests, as it was almost the cost of a  one night stay.  But when we did increase it to cover our costs, there was no decline in bookings.

The rules for offsetting W2 income with depreciation write offs are very specific and relate to the level of participation and ratio of hours worked vs spent on your RE investment. Best to have an RE accountant review your individual situation to know if and how much of your depreciation can be written off against your W2 income.

I’ve had the same issue on the reports I ran this week.
