Post: In-State Legal Representation?

Hi All,

I am new to the world of real estate investing and need direction on getting legal representation prior to locking down my first investment property.

My business partner and I are starting an LLC in Delaware. He resides in NY, while I live in Los Angeles. We are both looking for a separate lawyer to review our operating agreement and provide counsel on anything we may not be aware of as it relates to conducting our business.

I have received referrals for lawyers outside of California (ie. Connecticut, Nashville, etc.), but not sure if that would work based on the fact I live in California.

Do I need a lawyer within California? Or will out-of-state representation suffice?

Thanks!

Justin
