Post: Section 8 Investors Help

Are there any section 8 investors with experience in Houston, Tx that can sit on a call with me and explain the details of the process which seem very obscure to me. Also open to out of state investors (we could use zoom).

I know everyone wants to see the thread to get the knowledge but I have a lot of questions. I promise I will write up a summary of my findings at the end and share with the community.

Thank you!

@Dannielle O'Buckley Welcome to Houston! I'm doing almost exactly the same but in a different area of Houston (near Downtown). I went away from the Airbnb because I didn't like the uncertainty and have my 2 rooms rented long-term now. I think it'd be hard to cashflow unless you find an amazing deal but you can definitely cover majority (90%) of the expenses while living there. Also, not sure what the Airbnb demand is like for that area. There might be a niche market there, but i would try to find people who do it there to get a better idea because it's pretty deep in the suburbs.

In that area you can get a decent 3/2 for ~150K more or less. Less if you are willing to get something that needs repairs. I personally find Katy super boring but I'm a fan of the area for investments because it has a great school district and seems like everyone with a family wants to live there.

Let me know if I can help with anything.

Sorry to jump back on this thread after so long.

I'm currently house hacking my 3/2 house. I live in one room and rent the other 2 out (have leases and everything) but my tenants only cover about 85% of my PITI. Based on what you guys say here, this would not help offset my future DTI at all? @Chris Mason @Shaun Weekes @Dan Schwartz

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to bid on this foreclosed house on Xome.com but they have a clause that says "Buyer will need to agree to signing a Hold Harmless. Buyer agreeing to leaving as an exception on title. Adverse Possession Affidavit - 3rd party claiming ownership of asset".

Does anyone know exactly what it means? and how risky this is?

Thank you,

Juan

@Cody L. Yeah that'd be great. It's the one just north of 610. Thanks!

@Jaysen Medhurst Thanks, I will include those numbers in my calculations. Would have to offer way less for the numbers to work out that way

@Adam D Rinehart Man, how are you getting those prices in Houston? Have those been from the MLS or through other methods? All triplex i've seen are around that price.
