Welcome to the first 2014 East Bay Meetup!

The last meetup in Oakland was a great exchange, so time for another one! Please post on this forum instead of the old one if you plan to attend, so I can get a ballpark number of people.

I'm looking forward to seeing many of you again, and it sounds like maybe quite a few more.. This location will have more space inside, with communal tables. It has food, including vegan options, and a wide variety of beer. Look for nametags when you arrive, but shouldn't be too tough..

Should be a good time! See you there!

Best,
J Martin

Minh, Guilty as charged! lol I was going to take it to PM with Bill on the banking talk so we didn't bother you too much, but wasn't sure if Johnson wanted to hop in.. On the charts, just click 'animate' or read the instructions, and turn on the trail.. Never seen one like it.. Cool way to present this data.

speaking of cash businesses and tax returns Johnson, I might see you at our special little SF bank and be discussing just that..!

Sandeep, glad Johnson could help you on the out-of-state, and glad to know you and Minh weren't unknowingly slugging it out! Lol I agree. THOSE prices.. Once in a lifetime probably. We're all going to have to work a lot harder in the future to hit the homeruns/grand slams. Or start hitting singles/doubles/triples more often.. Our east bay meetup might not go too far south because there are people from up north and SF that come, so Oakland is pretty central. But we'd be happy to have you if you can make it, and there are lots of resources there too. Ask Troy Fisher about local meetups down there.. He seems to know..

Steve, I'll be nailing down the meetup date before the end of the week. Good luck on the out-of-state. I'll leave you to those investors..

listen to Johnson.. Good guy (I'm sure the rest are great too, I just don't know as well..)

Erin, wow! That's a commute! But I know people who have gone further.. Traffic is much lighter in early morning I've heard from many. Hope u like waking up at 5am!!! But I really love your determination!! Ps I'll be staying in Stockton for a few weeks for a job in January, so we can meet up here or there!

thanks for chiming in Chris! Sounds like you're more familiar than most..

Bill , you're not too far off.. Chris is right regarding the transactions being recorded on the block chain. But I don't think its very easy to trace the bitcoin address back to a hot body. Federal regulators in US have all said that there are similar bsa/aml risks as cash. Ironically, proposed regulation has generally caused btc price to go up, because it seems to be granting legitimacy/acceptance that it is on the map. But it got slaughtered recently when China told payment processors not to process for btc-china, the biggest exchange. So took a big hit on the chin the last week.. About back to break even after being up over 100%. As I said before, highly speculative.

engelo, you can send your btc to btc-e if you want to buy litecoin, feathercoin, peercoin, ripple, etc. Then you can send the coins to ur laptop wallet or cold storage offline if u don't trust btc-e. The boat sailed a few times already. We'll see if its still making any new voyages..!

Thanks for the tip! I thought I would take labor directly to this year's..!!

Also, you may want to check:

1) Any way your HOA dues cover water heater units? (townhomes vary greatly on what HOA covers..)
2) Do you have a "home warranty" plan from a recent purchase? or otherwise? That might cover it..
3) Also, some cities/counties offer rebates for energy-saving water heater upgrades. Check your local utility/govt website in the South Bay or search google.

Good luck!
