Post: Do Canadian's who invest in the US pay double taxes?

Hi Lisa,

Canadians must declare income earned from US on both Canadian and US tax filings. From my understanding is that the taxes that is paid in the US can be credited against the taxes owed on the same income in Canada.

There are a number of forums that has this topic. You may want to check out the past posts here on BP.

Best of luck.

@Justin Stamper

Do you have a list of properties for flips that you can add me on? I will be in Orlando for the week of July 4 and I would like to check out a few properties.

Great job @Joe Stafford its very motivational.

Depends on who's doing much of the work.

Is your partner going to be responsible for construction only? or will he/she be doing other work like doing comps, research, finding a buyer, working with realtors and lawyers? if you will be funding plus doing the above and your partner is only on construction, 70/30 would be ideal.

Thanks for taking the time @Roy N. out of your busy schedule.

I feel more confident that I've covered your points of advice. When I meet my accountant this weekend it will sure shed more light on my plans.

Too bad I missed the meetup in Vaughn. Would've love to hear people's views on the Buffalo market.

As for my projects, I just sold my flip last week. Got some tenants renting the units held it for 3 months and sold to another investor. The project took more time than expected but I'm happy that I'm still coming out of the project with my head way above water.

On my next project, I want to get my feet wet in the US market. Perhaps staring small. I'd be interested in @Roy N. words of advice on this or anyone else who is familiar with the Canadian-US investing. From taxes to managing a project while in Canada.
