They estimate 6 months, weather permitting. I admit that I screwed up big and should have made this decision a few days ago, but it is what it is.
I've put myself in a bad position. My lease for my apartment renews tomorrow (June 30th) for one year. I've made the decision that I would like to build a new home, but I'm locked into my lease for one year. Is it possible to ask the builder to delay construction for 4-5 months and keep all the pricing incentives if I put my earnest money down, or would it be better to ask my apartment if I can switch to a month to month lease (lease officially renews tomorrow for one year term). My lease states that if I break the lease early, I may be responsible for the remainder of the term.

Thanks everyone, I'll let y'all know what happens but I have a feeling it's going to be me footing the bill. I have to protect my property. 

My renters have tried to find out who manages the property, but the tenants living there will not tell them. I also thought about writing a letter, but it's highly unlikely that they will respond given their past track record. They most likely bought this sight unseen (they live in New Jersey and this property is in San Antonio). They have never cut the trees since they owned it apparently.
I recently acquired a duplex in a neighborhood that is almost all rentals. The owners of the property behind my duplex live in New Jersey (I found this out by researching tax records) and the property is being rented out to a family and managed by a property management company. According to my tenants, the trees from that property have never been cut by the owners. All the neighbors have had to cut their trees for them as it extends to the house behind it (mine) and the houses on the left and the right. What do I do in this situation? Am I going to be responsible for cutting their trees indefinitely? How do I find out who the property management company is and contact them? Their neighbors are cutting the problem neighbors trees right now because it was touching their roof. Can I force them to cut the trees? I'm concerned with it damaging my property as I recently had the roof replaced.

Yes, learned from my rookie mistake. I actually got a lower interest rate too.

Problem solved. Went with another lender who wasn't incompetent. Thank you everyone for the advice.

It turns out my lender wasn't correctly counting my debt to income ratio. They had my monthly residence payment as double. I'm still switching to a smaller bank regardless when they come back with the approval.

I do not believe my lender is counting the rental income from this duplex to help me qualify. I sent him an email with the current leases. I'll post back here on Monday and let everyone know what happens.
