What are some good books or podcast on investing in student housing in college markets? Any tips are welcome also.

This would destroy modernization and growth in middle America. Slum areas would forever be slum areas. No money would be made except in high value area. Same is true for the rent control measures California are going to take.

@Michael Bartley Thanks! From the comments it’s looking like I will be holding off on the license. Real Estate will be my second career for the time being. In my situation it’s best to focus on real estate investing and let the pros handle being a agent.

@Jeffrey Calabrese Where is part of the problem. Im in WV and will be starting there. Multi family is where I’d like to start and I’ll explain why. My daughter is starting college and I want to invest my first property there as a way to provide a place for her to stay while starting my portfolio. Once a break the ice I’ll have the opportunity to branch out into Ohio and Kentucky.

Realistically I’ve got a year or two before I start to pull the trigger so I’m trying I get all the education I can. Trying to decide which techniques will work best for my personality and skill set and the best jumping off point. Any suggestions for a on that front?

@Dan Barli I would like to get into buy and hold rentals, Brrrr when possible. I would buy where the numbers fit so MLS is not out of the question. I've heard investors say obtaining a license lends advantages, saving on commissions, obtaining info from the MLS etc... I'm a complete rookie and trying to figure out what starting point would be most beneficial. Also it might be worth saying the market I will be starting in is a smaller market.

How beneficial is it to get your real estate license before becoming a investor? Would you recommend it?
