Does anyone know of any "Green" Eco-friendly communities anywhere in the US or beyond?

Beyond solar panel roofs, I'm interested in investing in a conscious community, perhaps LEED certified for example.

Ideally a place that helps you buy and rent out a unit like a vacation community.

Thank you for your input! I'm looking to purchase in a nicer area of Newark ... I'm seeing a ton of foreclosures and I'm asking myself, if rent is so high and there's a demand for rentals, why are so many people losing their houses? Any ideas? If they can't rent them out and profit, chances are I can't either. Also, If I'm spending $300-$500k, cash flow wise am I better off getting an MFR in Jersey City or West NY?

I'm looking to buy a 3-4 unit MFR somewhere in NJ. Maximum $500k. My goal is to maximize cash flow. What areas should I consider?
